Rights group concerned about fate of Azeri Iranian

Rights group concerned about fate of Azeri Iranian
Mon. 04 Jun 2007
London, Jun. 04 – Prominent international human rights group Amnesty International is concerned about the fate of an Azeri Iranian who may be on death row for his political activity.Hossein Forouhideh, an advocate of linguistic and social rights for Iranians of Azerbaijani ethnicity, is reportedly facing imminent execution, Amnesty said in a statement last week, adding that he had allegedly been tortured.Amnesty said it believed that Forouhideh, from the Khoy region of Iran’s West Azerbaijan Province, was sentenced to death by Bench One of the Revolutionary Court in the city of Orumieh. He is thought to have been accused of spying for Turkey.“He has reportedly spent more than nine months in a detention facility under the control of the Ministry of Intelligence in the city of Urumiye. Torture has allegedly left him with extensive bruising to his torso and a number of broken ribs”, Amnesty said.“In March the authorities told his mother, who lives in Khoy, that he had already been executed, and that she should collect his body from the detention facility. When she got there, the guards told her that Hossein Forouhideh had not yet been executed. She recently visited the detention facility again, but was not allowed to visit her son, and fears he has been tortured.“His cousin, Iraj Naji, is in solitary confinement and Amnesty International fears that he may be at risk of torture or ill-treatment”, the statement added.Iraj Naji, who has been languishing in prison since October 2006, was accused of inciting the people of Khoy to take part in a demonstration in May 2006 against the publication in the state-owned daily “Iran” of a caricature which many Iranian Azerbaijanis considered offensive. In May 2006, at least 100,000 Azeris rallied in the city of Tabriz against the publication of the insulting cartoon.Subsequently, thousands took part in often violent anti-government demonstrations in the towns of Orumieh, Zanjan, Marand, Naqadeh and Ardebil. At least nine people were killed by government forces in the course of clashes with the protestors.

Each serious negotiation with the mullahs will be mortal for them

Kuwaiti daily newspaper Al-Siasa wrote: each serious negotiation which leads the mullahs to the concession on the nuclear issue and Iraq will be mortal for this regime and will endanger it by its interior.
This newspaper by rejecting all the negotiations and appeasements with this regime adds: at first, the Iranian resistance with a right policy with respect to the Iranian regime had declared that the solution is neither the war and the military occupation and nor kindness, indeed it is the third option which is a democratic change by the Iranian people and his resistance.
This solution in place of giving advantage to terrorism and the criminal gangsters and the gangs of espionages open a popular and democratic way in Iran and lead to a free and independent Iran.
That is also a right policy against the Iranian regime in Iraq. The interventions and the crimes of the Iranian regime in Iraq are part of the nature of the same regime to reach these objectives.
Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Siasa concluded: the only solution towards this regime and the ousting of this regime of Iraq. It is the same solution which was presented by 5 million 200 thousands Iraqis and of the democratic and popular parties while signing a historical petition.
Each solution which is unaware of the right of the Iraqi people and the democratic and popular parties for eviction of the true occupant of this country which is the Iranian regime is unacceptable and illegitimate ".

An interesting article
Jaw to jawLeaderTuesday May 29, 2007The Guardian
It was only after a prolonged tussle between pragmatists and hardliners that the regime decided to participate in the talks - and heaven knows what was happening in Iran. But, for once, the US vice president Dick Cheney's band of neo-conservatives were outgunned by the combined forces of the State Department, the CIA and the Pentagon. Thus yesterday saw, for the first time since 1980, direct talks between an American and an Iranian ambassador.
The scope of the talks was strictly limited. Iran's nuclear ambitions and its funding of Hamas and Hizbullah were off the table. US ambassador Ryan Crocker and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Kazemi-Qomi focused exclusively on security in Iraq. But there was more than enough to talk about there. The run-up to yesterday's talks saw an orchestrated chorus of claim and counter-claim. Last week one US official accused Iran of fighting a proxy war in Iraq and forging secret ties with al-Qaida. Another characterised Iran's role in Iraq as a player who bet on every horse in every race. On Sunday, Iran responded by accusing the Americans of launching espionage networks within its own borders. Other less obvious messages were also delivered. There was the unexpected appearance of the Iraqi Shia cleric, Moqtada al-Sadr, who before the start of the US-led crackdown in Baghdad had disappeared and taken shelter in Iran. Before his disappearance, Moqtada overplayed his hand by withdrawing his support from the Iraqi government only to find that it continued much as before. Iran may now be trying to push him back into the government.
If Washington wanted more co-operation from Iran in curtailing the violence, Iran wanted from Washington more guarantees about Shia power in Baghdad. Iranian demands also include the dislodging of an Iranian opposition group - the Mujahedin Khalq - from its Iraqi base, and the release of five Iranian diplomats detained by the Americans in Mosul.
After four hours, the talks broke up. The Americans said they had been business-like but that Iran now had to withdraw its backing from various militias that are fighting Iraqi and coalition forces. But Mr Crocker revealed that Iran had proposed setting up a "trilateral security mechanism" that would include the US, Iraq and Iran. The Americans remain cautious about such a plan - and there are pitfalls, as the forum could appear to elevate Iran, which is only one of several neighbours of Iraq, to the same status as the US and Iraq itself. But such talks must be considered. Even if the US and Iran start to regulate their relationship, Iran is only one factor in the destablisation of Iraq. Take away Iran's role and there still will be an insurgency and multiple civil conflicts in Iraq.

Have you seen the recent films?
Yesterday I saw the film of the Iranian student who were protesting against the mullahs regime and the thing that was very interesting was that they were protesting bravely and despite all the repressions and all the menaces the regime couldn't stop their movement and they have decided to continue their fight against this regime .... and we must support them .... the newspapers and the media must publish what is happening in this country but unfortunately we can't find these news and that shows the catastrophe of human rights in the world!!!

Political Prisoners in Iran! THREATENED

The information is from the "hamyari " site
Recently in the Iranian press I read that Head of the state prisons "Ali Akbar Yassaghi" said this Monday , while visiting ILAM province prisons ; "At the moment we are building a further 40 prisons ..." .
What would be your reflections on this?! Moderation , or more unification in suppression..."till death do us part" ?!!
Well I think this leaves no doubt that , make believing that there is change for moderation in Iran, is a possible retreat in reaction to the difficult task of "handling our dearest Government " in Iran . Please leave this task to the Iranian people. I am sure THAT is not TOO difficult ?
I think , its about time that we look at those who are paying the price of freedom , in the Iranian prison's. The same ones that recently , were on the top slogans of the demonstrating students in Amir Kabir University .
Afshin Baymani. Mr. Baymani was accused and arrested for helping his brother Mehdi Baymani who is a supporter of the mojahedeen organization. He was first convicted and given a death sentence which was later changed to a life sentence. Mr. Baymani is a prisoner in Gohardasht (Karaj) prison at the moment. He is married and has two infant children. His family is suffering from extreme financial problems and is not financially supported.mr baymani is also one of the strikes and is on hunger strike at the moment to protest against anti human rights in prison.
Akbar Sanjabihe is a mojahedeen supporter that was arrested in the year 1999 and taken to makhef dizzel abad prison in the city of kermanshah because of working with the mojahedeen and has been their since. Because of epidemic diseases Mr. Sanjabi was stricken with sight problems and has became blind in one eye. From 23/12/05 he has gone on hunger strike to protest against anti human right laws in the Iranian regimes prisons.
Amir Hossain Saran.Mr Amir Hossain Saran is an active politician and the secretary of the national solidarity league. He has been arrested and sent to prison many times because of his activities against the Islamic regime. He was arrested again in January 2004 and has been under severe mental pressure in Gohardasht prison ever since. Provocation to sweep out "REFORMISTS"

Who says that there are no reforms in the Islamic Republic of Iran?!!
I suggest we take a look at the recent events in Amir Kabir University to give credit to the establishment about real reform.
Well the scene as depicted by ISNA news agency and “partners” shows a great wave of purge in the Islamic Students Society of the University, this time by the “Bassij” paramilitary students who are actively defending “Mahdi’s dooms day”. Of course what triggered the whole thing is not that, the government wishes to kick out the last of discord amongst the students, but that, obviously there has been “insulting chastity” and “insulting the blood and flesh of the prophet”!(this is referring to Mr.Khamenei as the blood and flesh of the prophet himself)
For any reader who is not familiar with this tone and language, I will try to translate it into every day Farsi, and then perhaps we could reach some where to understand what it really means.
It means that the Bassij Unit has forged a caricature showing Khameneii along with a lot of criticism in a daily paper that is supposed to belong to the Islamic Society. This therefore puts every one in danger of being arrested, chucked out or deprived of scholarship for ever. And to this end they have successfully staged a “storming” into the offices of this society and arranged a theatrical performance with hot slogans, in front of the University asking the trial of those responsible. It is interesting to notice the head bands they wore, suggesting they are ready to be martyrs in this path.
So we conclude that, “there is reform after all!”
But it seems that the reform is as Mr.Ahmadinejad has frankly put it, on a train that has no back gears.
And this train is draining the last drops of reform out of the remains of what used to be “khatami’s dialogue of civilizations”.
There goes the cotton wool dreams of the Appeasers and dialogue makers of our government.

Unchaste, licentious and un-godly women

These are the kindest words one gets if stopped on the streets of Tehran by the vice squad.
The women in Black cloaked semi uniforms with batons , escorted by men in uniform is what awaits you if you have your hair showing or have no socks or have tight cloths . Light colored cloths, tight ones and no socks, short sleeves ..are some of the reasons for getting arrested and ending up in prison cells.
"The current situation is shameful for an Islamic government. A man who sees these models on the streets will pay no attention to his wife at home, destroying the foundation of the family," said Mohammad Taghi Rahbar, a member of the culture committee of the Iranian parliament.
Mehdi kalhor , advisor to ahmadi nejad , thanks the suppression : "I see that your force has entered combat with this cultural invasion and, in its dirtier form, 'cultural NATO' through scientific means and I sincerely thank you and your colleagues.”
How ever this is not a popular plan and the public is very eruptive about this:
My friend mina while taking her manto off at home and taking a sight says: "If they want to stop vice, then why are these clothes imported? If they really want to deal with the problem then they should prevent the merchants from importing these mantos, pants, and scarves,"
“This is it mina” I said… “The whole point is to make you frustrated so much that you would not even think of any moves…”

Women like behaviour!!!

I think by now much of the hypocritical nature of the Iranian mullahs has unveiled it self in the recent British hostage crisis, but I must admit that as days go by, I tend to acknowledge my ignorance on this regard. I have lived practically all my life in Iran, and have been brought up with the Iranian culture and have understood the stingy, self centered ,dogmatic and mediaeval nature of the mullahs but “ By George!!” , they do tend to be expert hypocrites when it come to politics .
I was surfing through the archives of the conservative backed “baztab” site, when I came across the first news covering the suppression of the Women’s peaceful demonstration in Tehran in 2006.
I was amazed to find that the news site has despicably announced the tens of arrests and crackdown on these women as “ Women’s talk “ .
The news reads:
Some of the demonstrators had placards reading “support women’s rights to divorce”.
With the present of tens of women police, and their verbal interference, most of the women left the grounds, and those still remaining, had to go to their homes after having women’s talks with some of the police officers. Baztab reporter also saw some elderly women and men taken to police cars.
Now for my readers, the truth of the matter as reported by news agencies and bystanders and shots taken from the spot , the role of the female police was by far more than a “women’s talk”
The peaceful gathering of these women who carried placards supporting “freedom of speech” , “freedom of political prisoners” , “ women’s rights as Human rights” and many other slogans, was harshly crashed. Tens were arrested and taken away to interrogation cells in Ghasr prison and Evin prison. Some of the known Leaders were taken directly to the notorious 209 section of Evin prison.
