It was only after a prolonged tussle between pragmatists and hardliners that the regime decided to participate in the talks - and heaven knows what was happening in Iran. But, for once, the US vice president Dick Cheney's band of neo-conservatives were outgunned by the combined forces of the State Department, the CIA and the Pentagon. Thus yesterday saw, for the first time since 1980, direct talks between an American and an Iranian ambassador.
The scope of the talks was strictly limited. Iran's nuclear ambitions and its funding of Hamas and Hizbullah were off the table. US ambassador Ryan Crocker and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Kazemi-Qomi focused exclusively on security in Iraq. But there was more than enough to talk about there. The run-up to yesterday's talks saw an orchestrated chorus of claim and counter-claim. Last week one US official accused Iran of fighting a proxy war in Iraq and forging secret ties with al-Qaida. Another characterised Iran's role in Iraq as a player who bet on every horse in every race. On Sunday, Iran responded by accusing the Americans of launching espionage networks within its own borders. Other less obvious messages were also delivered. There was the unexpected appearance of the Iraqi Shia cleric, Moqtada al-Sadr, who before the start of the US-led crackdown in Baghdad had disappeared and taken shelter in Iran. Before his disappearance, Moqtada overplayed his hand by withdrawing his support from the Iraqi government only to find that it continued much as before. Iran may now be trying to push him back into the government.
If Washington wanted more co-operation from Iran in curtailing the violence, Iran wanted from Washington more guarantees about Shia power in Baghdad. Iranian demands also include the dislodging of an Iranian opposition group - the Mujahedin Khalq - from its Iraqi base, and the release of five Iranian diplomats detained by the Americans in Mosul.
After four hours, the talks broke up. The Americans said they had been business-like but that Iran now had to withdraw its backing from various militias that are fighting Iraqi and coalition forces. But Mr Crocker revealed that Iran had proposed setting up a "trilateral security mechanism" that would include the US, Iraq and Iran. The Americans remain cautious about such a plan - and there are pitfalls, as the forum could appear to elevate Iran, which is only one of several neighbours of Iraq, to the same status as the US and Iraq itself. But such talks must be considered. Even if the US and Iran start to regulate their relationship, Iran is only one factor in the destablisation of Iraq. Take away Iran's role and there still will be an insurgency and multiple civil conflicts in Iraq.

Have you seen the recent films?
Yesterday I saw the film of the Iranian student who were protesting against the mullahs regime and the thing that was very interesting was that they were protesting bravely and despite all the repressions and all the menaces the regime couldn't stop their movement and they have decided to continue their fight against this regime .... and we must support them .... the newspapers and the media must publish what is happening in this country but unfortunately we can't find these news and that shows the catastrophe of human rights in the world!!!

The information is from the "hamyari " site
Recently in the Iranian press I read that Head of the state prisons "Ali Akbar Yassaghi" said this Monday , while visiting ILAM province prisons ; "At the moment we are building a further 40 prisons ..." .
What would be your reflections on this?! Moderation , or more unification in suppression..."till death do us part" ?!!
Well I think this leaves no doubt that , make believing that there is change for moderation in Iran, is a possible retreat in reaction to the difficult task of "handling our dearest Government " in Iran . Please leave this task to the Iranian people. I am sure THAT is not TOO difficult ?

Provocation to sweep out "REFORMISTS"

Who says that there are no reforms in the Islamic Republic of Iran?!!
I suggest we take a look at the recent events in Amir Kabir University to give credit to the establishment about real reform.
Well the scene as depicted by ISNA news agency and “partners” shows a great wave of purge in the Islamic Students Society of the University, this time by the “Bassij” paramilitary students who are actively defending “Mahdi’s dooms day”. Of course what triggered the whole thing is not that, the government wishes to kick out the last of discord amongst the students, but that, obviously there has been “insulting chastity” and “insulting the blood and flesh of the prophet”!(this is referring to Mr.Khamenei as the blood and flesh of the prophet himself)
For any reader who is not familiar with this tone and language, I will try to translate it into every day Farsi, and then perhaps we could reach some where to understand what it really means.
It means that the Bassij Unit has forged a caricature showing Khameneii along with a lot of criticism in a daily paper that is supposed to belong to the Islamic Society. This therefore puts every one in danger of being arrested, chucked out or deprived of scholarship for ever. And to this end they have successfully staged a “storming” into the offices of this society and arranged a theatrical performance with hot slogans, in front of the University asking the trial of those responsible. It is interesting to notice the head bands they wore, suggesting they are ready to be martyrs in this path.
So we conclude that, “there is reform after all!”
But it seems that the reform is as Mr.Ahmadinejad has frankly put it, on a train that has no back gears.
And this train is draining the last drops of reform out of the remains of what used to be “khatami’s dialogue of civilizations”.
There goes the cotton wool dreams of the Appeasers and dialogue makers of our government.
